Solanum lycopersicum
'Burnley Surecrop' is a tomato variety developed in Melbourne and therefore suited to those specific growing conditions. It is a tall and vigorous growing tomato that produces medium sized round fruit that is disease resistant. Tomatoes are nitrogen-hungry so soil must be prepared with a mix of compost and chicken manure dug through the patch two weeks prior to planting. Choose a sunny, well-drained spot, preferably in a position where you have not grown tomatoes the previous season.
How to plant: Propagate in seed trays. Tomatoes can be grown in large pots but do best in-ground. It is recommended to pinch out the first shoots to encourage plant growth.
