Rhododendron - arboreum hybrid?
Tall, evergreen shrub with vigorous growth habit and large, leathery dark-green foliage that has thin, brown indumentum. One of the hardiest of Rhododendron varieties, it grows very well in the Sydney area. It is an ideal background shrub for garden beds, or feature shrub for shady gardens. In spring, large conical trusses of bold, magenta-pink flowers make a stunning display.
Prefers a sheltered location and requires well-drained, humus-rich, acidic soil.
