Rhododendron - haematodes ssp haematodes x G.A. Sims
Compact evergreen shrub with dense spreading habit and dark forest-green leaves with fawn indumentum. Ideal planted in mixed borders, is sun tolerant but prefers a shady position. In mid-spring it produces loose, showy trusses of deep-red trumpet-shaped flowers with wavy edges.
Plant in well-draining, humus-rich, acidic soil.
