Magnolia x (campbellii × liliiflora)
'Star Wars' is a fast growing small deciduous tree with upright spreading habit. In mid-late spring, the tree is adorned with a profusion of massive, fragrant, bright rosy-pink flowers, flushed dark-pink at the base. The glossy green foliage emerges after the flowers have bloomed and is large and ovate in form.
This is an absolutely stunning variety. Recipient of the Award of Garden Merit from the RHS, it will make an eye-catching addition to any garden.
As with all magnolias, it prefers a moist, fertile and well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. A sunny aspect in a protected position is best. They also tolerate partial shade, and some protection from strong wind will enhance and prolong the flowering season.
