M.liliiflora x M. veitchii
'Heaven Scent' is a stunning deciduous magnolia with an upright growth habit that is perfect for a smaller garden. In early spring, massive tulip-shaped blooms in pastel lavender-pink, shading to white on the inside, adorn the bare limbs and fill the garden with the most divine fragrance.
Recipient of the RHS Award of Merit, the tree is truly spectacular when in full bloom. The flowers can be enjoyed for a period that lasts up to six weeks.
As with all magnolias, it prefers a moist, fertile and well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. A sunny aspect in a protected position is best. They also tolerate partial shade, and some protection from strong wind will enhance and prolong the flowering season.
