M. loebneri - 'Spring Snow' x 'Waterlily'
Medium sized deciduous tree with round to broadly round habit. In late winter to early spring, masses of slightly perfumed white, star-shaped flowers with a pink tinge adorn the bare branches. Later, softly textured, mid-green foliage appears on the smooth grey branches.
As with all magnolias, it prefers a moist, fertile and well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. A sunny aspect in a protected position is best. They also tolerate partial shade, and some protection from strong wind will enhance and prolong the flowering season.
