Pieris japonica
Variegated is a decorative medium sized evergreen shrub. New foliage has a bronze tinge which fades to light pink and then eventually matures to a glossy green with creamy edges. Masses of clustered, tassel-like crimson buds bloom to pure white bell-shaped flowers in spring, making a spectacular display. Prefers dappled shade and requires well-drained, humus-rich, acidic soil.
