Rhododendron molle
Sandpiper is a deciduous shrub with upright growing habit. In mid-spring, huge, showy trusses of flowers, with 18-30 blooms per cluster, adorn the plant. Flowers are funnel-shaped, pale yellow flushed pink, with an orange blotch. In autumn, the light-green foliage turns a brilliant bronzy-purple.
The excellent autumn colour and unsurpassed spring flowers of this mollis azalea makes it a must-have for the garden.
Prefers full-sun to dappled shade and well-draining, humus-rich, acidic soil.
