Magnolia 'stellata'
'Stellata' also know as the Star Magnolia, is a multi-branched, compact Magnolia with a rounded habit. The incredibly pretty star-shaped flowers make it the perfect specimen tree for small gardens or to plant in containers.
In late winter-early spring, buds open to reveal small, fragrant white blossoms with up to 40 long, strip-like tepals that are extremely showy.
As with all magnolias, it prefers a moist, fertile and well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. A sunny aspect in a protected position is best. They also tolerate partial shade, and some protection from strong wind will enhance and prolong the flowering season.
