Prunus laurocerasus
Fast growing evergreen shrub with glossy, dark-green leathery foliage. In spring, dainty white, sweet-smelling flowers adorn the shrub, followed by cherry-like red fruits that turn black with maturity. Prune as required after flowering. Perfect to use as a dense hedge or screening plant. Tolerates all light conditions including full shade. Plant in well-drained, moist, humus-rich soil.
Note: The leaves and fruits of the cherry laurel are toxic and may cause irritation to skin and eyes.
