Collection: Pieris

Pieris, genus of about seven species of small evergreen shrubs belong to the Ericaceae family. Several species including Pieris Floribunda and Pieris Japonica are cultivated as ornamentals and have several different varieties. Pieris species have broad leathery leaves which are a bright-red when young which eventually mature into a glossy green. The flowers are typically urn-shaped or bell-shaped and have a white or pink colouring. Pieris grow best in a shady position sheltered from dry winter winds and thrive in acid soils.
